Handcrafted Camelthorn wood inlay Ring. We use a premium Stainless Steel Ring core and skilfully inlay a hand picked piece of distinctive Camelthorn wood.

Camelthorn wood, obtained from the Camelthorn shrub, is prized for its durability and resistance to rot and decay. Its light-brown to reddish-brown colour and uniform texture make it an attractive choice for woodworking projects. The wood is very strong and easy to turn. It is popular with knife makers in South Africa, and has been well accepted by international wood crafters for a range of wood turning applications.

The wood is heavy and hard, with a dense grain structure, making it ideal for applications that require strength and stability, such as flooring, and building construction. Additionally, its resistance to moisture and insects makes it a suitable option for outdoor use. In the past, people utilized Camelthorn wood for fence posts, mining props, and machine bearings.

Camelthorn wood has a unique and attractive appearance and is, despite its weight, which makes it unsuitable for furniture, widely utilized for making small decorative items such as knife handles, small dishes, kitchen tools, and utensils.

With its strength, durability, and attractive appearance, Camelthorn wood is a valuable resource for a variety of applications.

In South Africa, Camelthorn is widely recognized as Kameeldoring, a highly favored firewood. You must obtain the right permit before harvesting Camelthorn because excessive harvesting has depleted its use as high-quality firewood.

We achieve this by utilizing premium stainless steel as a core, with a solid piece of instrument-grade wood serving as the inlay.

Our technique involves using a solid piece of material to create an inlay that does not have any joins, resulting in a durable and long-lasting product.

Warranty

Our Stainless Steel Inlay Rings are naturally hard-wearing and made to be worn for years to come. We offer a one-year warranty on all our rings, so you can trust in the quality of our products.

Ring Care

Here are some helpful tips to maintain your ring:

  • Although your ring is water-resistant, it's best to remove it during activities such as bathing or handling water and solvents.
  • Avoid exposing your ring to harsh chemicals, such as antibacterial wipes, cleaners, perfumes, and hair products, as these can discolour or warp the inlay.
  • Keep your ring out of direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can cause fading and cracking.
  • Before engaging in activities that involve heavy lifting or abrasives, remove your ring to prevent scratches or damage.
  • If your ring gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth to prevent water damage.
  • If you find that your ring is too tight, don't force it off. Instead, run your hand under cold water and use soap or cooking oil to gently remove it.

Our inlay ring with a premium stainless steel core is a high quality product and with the
proper care, will last you a very long time.
