About the Oryx:
The South African oryx (Oryx gazella) or Gemsbok is a large antelope native to the extremely dry, arid regions of Southern Africa; notably, the Kalahari Desert.
Hunters widely pursue Gemsbok for their spectacular horns, which average 85 cm (33 in) in length.
Gemsbok are one of the few antelope species where female trophies are sometimes more desirable than male ones.
A gemsbok horn can be fashioned into a natural trumpet.
About the wood:
Tamboti is a stunning African hardwood with heartwood that ranges from brown to dark brown.
It features darker markings and streaks distinguishable from its whitish to pale yellow sapwood.
Its grains are usually straight to slightly wavy with a fine and even texture.
Tamboti showcases a beautiful banded figure and a satin-like luster with an oily surface.
It is a hard, heavy wood in high demand in its natural range, despite its challenging working properties.
